Subspecies identification of Lesser Whitethroats, Sylvia curruca, wintering in southern Iran as inferred from DNA sequences (Aves: Sylviidae)

چکیده

The Lesser Whitethroat Sylvia curruca complex has a wide distribution in the east and west Palaearctic comprises phenotypically very similar, but genetically distinct forms. In order to determine origin of birds wintering on Qeshm Island Persian Gulf, we studied nucleotide sequences mitochondrial cytochrome b gene 23 individuals compared them with publicly available Gen-Bank. from were attributed subspecies S. c. halimodendri, probably breeding areas Kazakhstan China, formed two clades. As genetic distance between these groups is low, it likely that they represent different populations same taxon.

Recovering phylogenetic signal from DNA sequences: relationships within the corvine assemblage (class aves) as inferred from complete sequences of the mitochondrial DNA cytochrome-b gene.

Phylogenetic analysis of cytochrome-b sequences and cranial osteological characters for nine genera of corvine passerine birds supports the hypothesis that the two major groups of birds of paradise, the manucodines and paradisaeinines, constitute a monophyletic group and that their postulated sister group is the Corvidae (crows, jays, and allies). The data are also consistent with the hypothesi...

Recent divergence between two morphologically differentiated subspecies of bluethroat (Aves: Muscicapidae: Luscinia svecica) inferred from mitochondrial DNA sequence variation.

We assessed the mitochondrial DNA sequence divergence of a 718 bp fragment of the control region and 1007 bp of the cytochrome b gene between two allopatric morphologically different subspecies of bluethroat (Luscinia svecica). None of the 17 total haplotypes was shared between L. s. namnetum and L. s. svecica. However, the mean distances between subspecies were very low for both fragments (0.0...

phylogeography and genetic diversity of the lesser mouse- eared bat (myotis blythii) in iran

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...

Molecular phylogeny of Scutellaria (Lamiaceae; Scutellarioideae) in Iranian highlands inferred from nrITS and trnL-F sequences

Scutellaria with about 360 species is one of the largest genera of Lamiaceae. The Iranian highlands accommodate about 40 Scutellaria spp., and is considered as one of the main centers of diversity of the genus. Here, we present a phylogenetic study for 44 species of Scutellaria especially from Iranian highlands, representing major subgeneric taxa, based on nuclear rib...
